Our Process
STEP 1
Veterinarians surgically excise the tumor and ship it to our lab for processing.
STEP 2
Our lab will prepare a personalized vaccine from the tumor, which will be sent back to your vet clinic.
STEP 3
Veterinarians administer the personalized vaccine by injection once a week for three weeks.
HARNESSING THE IMMUNE SYSTEM TO FIGHT CANCER
Are you interested in offering our cancer treatment for the animals in your care?
The Science of Tissue Vaccines
Torigen has 10+ years of supporting pre-clinical research behind our treatment, a whole cell tissue vaccine. Because this therapy is produced directly from harvested tumor material, it avoids distortion of the antigenic menu that can result from in vitro culture. This allows for a variety of tumor-associated antigens to be presented to the immune system, which may increase the likelihood of a successful response.
So far, more than 1,200 companion animals have been treated with our autologous prescription product.
Immunotherapy For Your Practice
Torigen offers an autologous prescription product for dogs, cats and horses that uses the animal’s own tumor cells to create a personalized immunotherapy. It comes with a simple protocol, and can be used alone or in combination with chemotherapy and radiation. Now, you can offer a cancer treatment at an affordable price, all within your practice.
Torigen Can Help You Make a Difference
Our treatment is a whole cell tissue vaccine, which works by generating specific adaptive immunity to tumor associated antigens found on the outside surface of tumor cells.

Immunotherapy Preparation
In order to create the vaccine for your patient, the tumor must meet the following criteria:
- Anal Sac Adenocarcinoma
- Hemangiosarcoma
- Fibrosarcoma
- Mast Cell Tumors
- Melanoma
- Soft Tissue Sarcoma
- Hepatocellular Carcinoma
- Nasal Carcinoma
- Squamous Cell Carcinoma
- Transitional Cell Carcinoma
Torigen can also provide pathology services through our 3rd party reference labs (Vidium, Specialty Vet Path, IDEXX, Antech, Zoetis, VDx, VetPath - New York, SOPA ) if there is a sufficient quantity of tissue available. If you have requested pathology, and there is insufficient tumor tissue, our priority will be on getting the histologic diagnosis to allow for best patient care. The tumor tissue must be submitted to us fresh, non-formalin fixed.
Torigen is able to create the individualized immunotherapy from most solid tumors. For lymphoma and osteosarcoma, please call before submission to discuss the use of concurrent therapy, or waiting until the patient is in clinical remission before proceeding with immunotherapy.
